Louise Nevelson

This piece by Louise Nevelson is entitled Luminous Zag: Night and is displayed at the Guggenheim in New York. Known as Junk Art, the 105 blocks that she assembled were found pieces of wood sawed into zig zag patterns that are rhythmical and symmetrical. Her work contains a certain aesthetic that is pleasing to the eye. In each box, it is like viewing a different work within the cohesiveness of the piece. In my women and art class, we discuss how there are very few women artists displayed at large museums. It is refreshing to see a woman artist given credit where it is due!
